Physical Description:
Henry is well-built and physically fit, especially when compared to other physics graduates. He carries himself casually, and is known to gesticulate a bit when he speaks, especially if it's a subject he's passionate about.

His hair is a deep brown, his facial hair ranging from stubble to moderate growth, and his eyes are a mottled hazel; the irises blue or green in different areas, with a small golden ring around the pupil.

When not in uniform, he tends to wear any combination of baggy shirts, loose-fitting pants made of a heavy material (denim or canvas), and, occasionally, a band t-shirt and flannel ('native dress,' he calls it).

His skin is becoming increasingly covered in tattoos, mostly concentrated around his shoulders and upper torso. His back is dominated by a stylized, ancient-form Cross of Lorraine, the upper crossbar bearing a name: Ryan, Elizabeth Astrid. Markings around the name give it the appearance of a being taken from a rubbing, like something from a memorial wall. Questions about it tend to go unanswered.

Family & Personal History:
Henry was born in Seattle, on the west coast of the North American continent of Earth. His artistic tastes are largely influenced by his birthplace; he takes a large collection of loud, chaotic music wherever he goes. He'll proudly discuss the region's unique culture if asked.

He was born to a housing coordinator named Charles, now deceased. Henry's relationship with his father was never good, Charles being a demanding parent seemingly devoid of affection for anyone, let along his 'renegade' child. Of course, his disapproval didn't help Henry's attitude much, and he grew up to be somewhat volatile and unstable.

Henry's mother, Melissa, was a primary educator, teach kids in their adolescent years. She dealt with Charles' cold nature largely by ignoring it, and did what she could to nurture Henry while focusing on her work. Henry loves his mother dearly, and regrets much of what he put his mother through with his outbursts and battles with his father, and, to a lesser extent, his older brother Eric, who now works in undersea construction on Earth and other worlds.

Henry's closest friend and confidant growing up was his younger sister, Sara, who was ever supportive of him and his ideas. As a result, Henry idolizes Sara, and would do anything for her. While Henry was the first of his family to join Starfleet, mostly to get away from his father, Sara has been the better officer, having made her way from flight jock to Captain in just eight years. Henry is immensely proud of her.

Henry graduated from Starfleet Academy with dual majors in theoretical and particle physics, and his first assignment was as a science officer aboard the USS Pharaoh. However, the Pharaoh was understaffed, and Henry chose to learn the Tactical position so that he could multitask, also developing a penchant for coming up with weapon and ship designs. He's traded between the two a couple times as he's moved from ship to ship, but settled on Tactical for the final years of his career.

Henry was a stubborn and combative officer, with one official reprimand on file, and countless unofficial ones as well. His experiences as a child left him poorly equipped to trust others, and while he's made significant progress, he'll likely never be completely without his stubborn streak.

The latter half of Henry's career in Starfleet saw him deal with significant tragedy. Caught in a terror attack on Risa, Henry tried desperately to save a young girl who was trapped in a crumbling building with him, only to be beamed out before he could get to her. Needless to say, this deeply affected him. He recalls it frequently in his dreams, which are often tinged with guilt.

Later, Henry was deployed to a small border colony called New Juarez, where a significant force of rogue Jem'Hadar attempted to take the colony for themselves. Henry commanded roughly a hundred volunteers from the USS Kraken, landing in the colony's capital, and held the city against nearly a thousand thanks to guerilla tactics and jury-rigged heavy weaponry, including a transport-mounted rail gun. Their losses were many, however, and the experience left a black mark on his soul that he'll never erase.

Sometime later, Henry developed a friendship with Kesh Suder, a woman he'd previously been antagonistic towards. She had been grievously wounded on New Juarez, and later suffered from mental distress, the latter of which Henry knew something about. With his burgeoning sense of empathy, he offered what help he could, visiting her while she stayed at a facility on Mars. Kesh became his greatest friend since Sara, and her death just over a year later was devastating, and helped prompt him to finally resign his commission.

Returning to civilian life gave Henry a sense of peace, and he's been slowly putting a life together since. He wasn't able to stay out of the game for long, however, and now works with Starfleet as a civilian contractor. He has been assigned to the Sigma Rho station, a post his sister once commanded, as head of a Starfleet Corps of Engineers detachment.

Educational History:
Science was Henry's escape from a stressful home life, letting him inhabit many different worlds at once. He was particularly drawn to what he saw as the chaotic nature of the universe, particularly the 'world of the small,' and was studying the motion and properties of particles by the time he was a teenager.

Thus, it was a natural choice for him to study it further at the Academy, where he dual majored in particle and theoretical physics. It was a monumental challenge, especially with Henry going through the most difficult time of his life, dealing with the repercussions of his upbringing. However, he was able to channel his anger and frustration into his work, and graduated near the top of his class in both majors on time.

During his time on the Pharaoh, Henry took a few crash courses on Tactical principles, and found he had a knack for it. He spent his spare time designing weapons and defensive systems, and going over historic space battles to get a feel for fleet maneuvers, and how an individual ship fits into an overall fleet.

Before long, Henry was certified as a Tactical officer, though he never lost his penchant for physics and other sciences (biology remains a weak point for him).

Medical History:
Henry is in excellent shape, and maintains a rigorous exercise routine, finding it helps to center himself. While he has had a few significant injuries over the years, they've all largely healed, leaving little physical remnants.

His scars are largely mental, and he has variably needed treatment for an array of mental health issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Henry is in a much better place that he was, however, and seems to be settling down, maturing as the years have passed and learning well from his battles with himself and others.
