"Reflections"

<GD_CJ>

SUMMARY: The interviews are winding down, and most of the ship is stressed out about it. Who will stay, and who will be transferred? With an uncertain future ahead, it's time for the big cheese himself: Captain Rome.

<GD_CJ>

<<<Resume>>>

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::pockets the paper scroll given to him by Admiral Walker::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::walks out of his Ready Room and onto the Bridge, heading straight for Navigation::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Sits at his station doing diagnostics::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::frowns at the report:: Self: Someone did what? ::looks up as the Captain approaches::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the CO::

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

::continuing down the list for medical exams::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::reaches into his pocket and grabs the piece of paper, then casually rests it ontop the Navigation console:: NAV: Cadet, how are your report coming along?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Is back to guarding the bridge, legs aching, and his mind boggling from a combination of boredom and the insidious need to crush Captain Winter's larynx::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

CO: It´s going Sir. Anything else you need? :: Feels a little bit of heat coming his way::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CO: A moment if you would, sir?

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::holds one finger over the piece of paper:: NAV: As a final exam...run a simulation on these coordinates, best way, best speed and memorize it.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the paper and starts to make adjustments to his console::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::looks up at Lyon and nods::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CO: Sir, I have some troubling report from Engineering that I would like to discuss with you and the XO at some point. I will forward it to your inboxes in the meantime. The short of it, someone put a datalogger in one of the secondary CPUs. It had shorted out causing a loop that came up on my diagnostics.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

CO: Aye Sir.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::let's go of the iece of paper:: NAV: This is for your eyes only, Cadet. ::walks over to Lyon::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

OPS: Danann had the same fears infact.....destroy it.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the CO, well I guess this was the heat coming:: CO: Aye Sir, I got this.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::In the absences of the leftenant, decides to mosey up to the security console and quickly check the incoming reports, despite them most likely showing everything's green::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CO: Aye, sir. We'll have to go over the core and secondary systems and backups from top to bottom. There might be more. At least we know what to look for.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::puts his hand on Lyon's shoulder:: OPS: Flush the core if you have to.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::gives a tight smile:: CO: Aye, sir. Complete format and reinstall it is.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::nods and let's go of his arm::

<CMO_Cmdr_Kymar>

::sits on his office going over the last few physicals, checking off a few items in the ship's crew database::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the CO:: CO: Sir I have found the shortest way but I need you to look at this pad.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CO: I will schedule it for the Gamma shift.

ACTION: Winters' voice comes over the comm.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::looks over at Gunn:: NAV: This is your exam Cadet, do what you feel is right.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Moves back to the turbolifts with the reports on a PADD. Hoping it's something to thumb through whilst things are relatively quiet::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::looks at Lyon:: OPS: Get started immediately.

<Capt_Winters>

*Hyperion*: Captain Rome, please meet me in Habitat conference room C at your convenience.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::looks around the Bridge:: OPS: And where the hell is Danann?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Grumbles at the sound of that man's voice::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

*Winters*: Rome here, I'll be there shortly Commander.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods:: CO: Aye, sir. I'll get on it now. ::looks around:: She was here a while ago, but she said she had something to take care of and left the bridge.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

OPS: Well get her back here, until then you have the Bridge.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

::looks up as the next patient walks into sickbay, with three flying babies in tow..::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

OPS: And do me a favor, transport me to Winters' location. Straight into the office.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Waves the Captain in before he leaves:: CO Sir....

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods:: CO: Understood, sir. I'll get my staff on the prepwork. I will oversee the actual reinstall.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Sighs, as she didn't get a favourable walk through on her inspection, and heads back to the bridge::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: Report to Lyon, Ensign.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

Vixilprax: Ah, Vixilprax, good to see you. How are the babies today?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Sighs:: CO: Yes sir....

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::smiles and enters the co-ordinates for the Habitat conference room:: CO: Ready, sir.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Goes over his calculation of the route one more time before he can let the CO see it::

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Continues to tap on the PADD, deftly avoiding walking into other officers as she makes her way to the bridge::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::taps the controls and transports the Captain onto the station::

ACTION: Rome shimmers off the bridge, and appears before Captain Winters on the station. If he's startled, he doesn't show it.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Sighs again, tapping the PADD on his hand and shaking his head.:: Self: Nevermind...

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: Commander. ::moves to take a seat at the end of the table::

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

<Vixilprax>

::hands a baby to the nearest nurse and bounces the first two on his lap:: MED: Just fine.. Tix'la here has started teething. She's been keeping me up at night.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::turns to watch the Captain disappear, before standing up and walking over to Douglas:: TO: What do you have, Ensign?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Looks up as she walks onto the bridge, wondering where the command crew is as she makes her way to her station::

<Capt_Winters>

@::sighs softly, sitting back and looking up at Rome:: CO: Captain, actually. Thank you for meeting me here, Captan Rome.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

OPS: Agh, its nothing commander, other than a really bad feeling about Winters.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

TAC: You and everybody else, Ensign. I didn't have the pleasure of his company and I want to wring his neck.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: Ah yes, my mistake. ::reaches for a tumbler and pours himself some water:: Now what do you need, Captain?

<Capt_Winters>

@::eyes the Captain for a moment:: CO: I have a great deal of respect for you, Captain, so I won't put on airs. I think your crew is a mess, and I think that's a problem.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

::runs through the physical scans on the avian father, noting information down on her PADD:: Vixilprax: I see your iron levels are a bit low. How's the nursing going? Have you been taking your vitamins?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

OPS: He's trixxy sir. He thinks he's Matthew Hopkins. Witch-hunter extraordinaire. He's after something, and I have no doubt in my mind that he'll do anything to get it.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: My crew is green, but I thank you for your thorough opinion....but they are my crew, and the Hyperion was a teaching ship...by all standards, this crew is mediocre.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Looks up from the PADD, to her console, bringing up a message, twitching her eyebrows for a moment before scanning the bridge for Rome::

<Capt_Winters>

@::puts on a polite smile:: CO: It *was* a teaching ship. Now, it's an important part of our defense in a sector threatened with war. I'm sure you'll agree a mediocre crew is less than ideal for such a ship.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods:: TAC: I have no doubt about it. But I also trust that the Captain is aware of this and will not let it happen.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: They are green, Captain. But they have stood up to danger and come out unscathed every time. All crew need to be broken in, I think mine has.....and I can tell you I am well broken in. ::leans forward:: Now what did you want?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Re-reads the message, memorising it before closing it, and wandering over to NAV:: NAV: How are things going Cadet?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

OPS: Keep your go-bag ready just in case, eh? ::Looks with an air of concern and nods::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks around for the CO, hoping it´s not long until he returns, senses like there are someone looking at him::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

TAC: Something like that. Anything else? I have have a complete computer core format and reinstall to oversee.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

::gently pries a hypospray out of the second baby's hands, at the same time pushing the medical cart just out of reach::

<Capt_Winters>

@::lets his smile fall a bit, looking at Rome intently:: CO: I know you don't think much of me, or my position, Captain. Not many do, in fact. I'm sure I'm seen as a thorn in many sides. But, I have a job to do, and that job is make sure our personnel are in optimal position. Quite frankly, if it were strictly up to me, I would make wholesale changes to your roster. But I know how this game works; I'm sure most of my recommendations will be ignored, or refuted.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

CTO : Things are good, I have already done the thing the CO asked of me, I´m just waiting for his return. Did you try the new tea recipe I found for you?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

OPS: No sir. Sorry to disturb you. Better get back to.... standing by a door ::Nods again::

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

<Vixilprax>

MED: I've tried taking the vitamins, but the pills are huge, and they taste awful...

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

TAC: You didn't bother me and I will relay your concern to the Captain.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Gives him an open friendly look:: NAV: The captain will be pleased. He asked my to supervise your progress. And it was delicious.  Would you like to share some with me?

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: As they should be. ::places his palms on the fauxhogany:: You have no idea what it's like to command a Starship...I have commanded three in my time, and I am damn proud of the crews that have served under me as I am DAMN proud of this one. They may be misfits, and green in some areas. But they are my crew, I pick them and there they will stay.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Gives a rare smile:: OPS: Thank you commander. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. ::Goes back to guarding::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

TAC: Will do Ensign. ::walks back to his console:: CTO: Joanne, a moment?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Holds a hand up, just for a moment, to Lyon, with a telling glance in Lyon's direction::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the CTO smiling:: CTO: Not at the moment, just waiting on the CO.

<Capt_Winters>

@::smiles once more, folding his hands and placing them on the table:: CO: You're right, for the most part. I'm sure Admiral Walker will do his damnedest to block my changes. But things are not as simple as you'd like to think. I will make changes. In fact, I already have.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@::sets his jaw:: Winters: And I will have them countermanded.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods, sits down and quickly sends out orders to the various section chiefs and department heads to back up their subroutines and personalised settings::

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

Vixilprax: Would you prefer the vitamins in liquid form? We have cherry flavor, mango, and Catalian kumquats. Or I could just give you an injection once a day, your choice.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

NAV: I'll be back in just a moment, but, in these circumstances, think that anything you would tell the Captain, you can tell me.  ::Puts emphasis on certain words, before turning away to OPS::

<CMO_Cmdr_Kymar>

::blinks as he gets the backup message, making a panicked sound as he hurriedly begins saving all of the changes he's been making and updating in the medical records::

<Capt_Winters>

@::narrows his eyes somewhat:: CO: Captain Rome, I am to inform you that, as of one hour ago, Commander Danann will no longer serve as your executive officer. She is currently being taken back to Earth to answer questions regarding her questionable mission reports.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

OPS: You wanted to talk to me, mister? ::Gives him a little smile::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: Excuse me? Who the hell do you think you are?

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

<Vixilprax>

MED: Hm... ::thinks for a minute:: I think I'll take the... kumquats.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: I am her Captain, she's my responsibility.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@::stands up:: Winters: You know what. This interview is over.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CTO: Just a heads up on that CPU spike of earlier. Someone installed a data logger on that CPU. I have to flush the core and reinstall. You should have a message on your console to back up your subroutines and personalised settings.

<Capt_Winters>

@::leans back once more:: CO: Sure. I'm sure Starfleet will contact you about a replacement for the commander promptly. Have a good day, Captain Rome.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@Winters: You will regret this move, Mr. Winters. Crossing me is not a smart move. ::taps his badge::

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

OPS: I did have a message, just not that one. But that information does help towards explaining some things

<CO_Captain_Rome>

@*Hyperion*: Hyperion, one to beam over to the Bridge. Stat.

<Capt_Winters>

@CO: I'll be sure to note my terror in my reports.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

CTO: This is something strange here, I have been doing some diagnostics on the Navigation system and I found some flaw. Nothing serious but it´s gonna take some time. :: Starts typing on his console::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

*CO*: Energising. ::taps the return command::

ACTION: Winters waves as Rome is transported back to the Hyperion bridge.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

NAV: Send me a copy of your findings, please. It will help with my work.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

NAV: Please keep me informed. Something seems to coincidental with all of this. Too many 'flaws' and 'spikes'

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::rematerializes on the Bridge:: TAC: Douglas, you're back on active duty. Find Commander Danann in the station logs and what transport she was taken to. NOW.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CTO: It's not paranoia if they are out to get you.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Sends the minor flaw in Navigation to OPS:: OPS: Here you go.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::points at Lyon:: OPS: I want that bug out of my ship's systems.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

Vixilprax: Good choice. ::hands him a bottle full of green liquid:: One dose, once a day. Other than that, you're in perfect health. I'll see you in six months for your next appointment..

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Steps back so that Rome takes centre stage:: CO: We have a missing Danann, Captain?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Stands like a rabbit caught in headlight; slacking off with a PADD and security reports in his hands and no way of hiding them: CO: Uhhhh..... Yessir?

<CO_Captain_Rome>

CTO: We do.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at the CO:: CO: I got your calculations you asked of me here on this padd.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

CO: Working on it, sir. But I just got alert of an unauthorized transport in your ready room. ::gets up and pulls out his phaser, habit taking over, shooting a glance at Joanne::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: And Douglas. I am bloody well tired of your shit. Get your act together this time. Am I clear?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

CO: And considering who you were just visiting, I think we can guess the source of the disappearance

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

CO: Wait, What.....?

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

CO: Yes sir, where's the commander....?

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: On her way to Earth. ::looks up:: OPS/CTO: If it's Winters, shoot him.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Doubletimes it to the RR door on Lyon's statement, knowing he'll have her back, taking a second's pause before opening the door::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::short on Feyna's heels, tappign her shoulder that he's ready::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Nods:: CO: ON IT. ::Immediately starts tearing into the station logs::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

CO: My findings SIR! :: Stands up and walks over to the CO with the Padd::

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Enters the room, taking an immediate offensive position as she scans the area::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::grabs the PADD from Gunn:: NAV: Very good Cadet.

SCENERY: The ready room is empty, though a small black box sits on the Captain's desk with a paper note attached.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::enters the room after Feyna, moving to cover the room in cross-fire position::

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Whips out a tricorder from her hip, assessing the contents and security of the black box::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::straightens up as he notes the room is clear:: CTO: Most peculiar.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::glances at the report:: NAV: This is good. Set it up.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

CO: Sir. I can't find her. She's not on the official listings for any ship. The only ship that has recently departed as well is the USS Bronson.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Doesn't let down her guard:: OPS: Most suspicious, and it reeks of taunting. As a primary assessment.

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Sits down at his station and make the necessary adjustments:: CO: Aye Sir.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: Where is she?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Flips the tricorder closed in frustration:: OPS: Nothing on the package.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

CO: Sir, you have had a parcel delivered. Tricorder isn't bringing up anything.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::walks over to the Ready room:: OPS/CTO: Just open the damn thing.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

CO: If she's not on the station, she has to be on the Bronson sir. Its the only ship on route for Earth.

<MED_Ens_Rousseau>

::takes a few minutes to finalize the latest physical report and hands it off to Kymar::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: I heard you, where's the Bronson?

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Looks at OPS:: OPS: I have manage to repair this flaw. Nothing to worry about now.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Pulls up the Bronson specifications.:: CO: She's a Nebula refit and she has a one hour lead on us....

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: Hail her.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Moves to the desk, asking Lyon to stay back with a glance, and flips open the note::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Sends out a hail for the Bronson::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods at Feyna, talking over his shoulder:: NAV: Thank you, cadet. I will backtrace what caused it.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::taps his badge:: *CMO*: Kymar, report to the Bridge.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Reads the note's contents, "Rome, A Gift - HS"::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Sends out another hail for the Bronson::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::completely mystified, walking further into the ready room, stopping by the desk::

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Carefully opens the box, peering in to check the contents::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::glances at Danann's Ready Room on the opposite end of the Bridge and almost let's out a growl::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

Self: BAH ::Swears angrily in Klingon:: CO: Those bastards are ignoring my hails captain....

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: Thought they might....

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::peers over Feyna's shoulder::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::let's out a deep breath:: CTO: Give me that

SCENERY: Inside the box is a small device consisting of an emitter and a switch.

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

CO: You want me to do one of those things I do thats pisses you off sir? Like remotely access the Bronson?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

CO: It's from someone initialled HS, Captain. ;::Picks up the box and brings it to him, having recognised the device::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

TAC: No....but you asked, that's progress......we can't go after our own like that.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::even more mystified:: CTO: Care to enlighten me?

<CO_Captain_Rome>

CTO: Who the hell is HS? ::turns the device around in his hand:: CTO: What is it?

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Drops her voice so that only Rome can hear her:: CO: It blocks surveillance Sir.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::thumbs the switch::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::gets a better look:: CTO: Nevermind. I remember giving you your first one.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Rolls her eyes subtley at Lyon::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Tries hailing the Bronson again:: *Bronson*: Bronson, this is the Hyperion. Please respond.

SCENERY: The device emits a soft whine to start, the emitter glowing softly.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

CTO: Walker had something similar on his desk earlier....

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::grins at her:: CO: With your permission, Captain. I'll get back to the computer core.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

CO: That wouldn't surprise me Sir, someone from IA or intel most likely would. But it also means that he didn't record your conversation.

<CO_Captain_Rome>

OPS: Aye....and that cargo manifest, saying we're carrying medical supplies and relief shelters? It seems to have disappeared, fix that will you'

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::nods:: CO: Aye, sir. ::exits the ready room, heading back to his console::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::hands the emitter to Joanne:: *Senior crew*: Senior crew, report to the briefing room in one hour.

<CTO_Lt_Feyna>

::Takes hold of the equipment, wondering where Rome wanted her to shove it::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::moves the ship records and files to an isolated system and initiates a level 1 scan of the information::

<CMO_Cmdr_Kymar>

::glances up from his reports at the message, then makes a note for the computer to remind him of the appointment in an hour::

<TAC_Ens_Douglas>

::Growls at the console:: Self: We cant let those bastards just take her.

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::sends his 2IC a note to take over the diagnostic when he had to go to the meeting::

<CO_Captain_Rome>

::walks over to his seat and sits down, deep in thought::

<NAV_Cdt_Gunn>

:: Decrypts his Console before getting ready to go the mess hall for dinner::

<OPS_Cmdr_Lyon>

::sends a final request to all department heads and section chiefs to report their progress::
