<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: on the bridge, having said their farewells to Miraak, now awaiting word that the crush cans have been repaired and sent on their way ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: at the helm, monitoring the autopilot as it keeps a relative position to the station, which is difficult in an atmosphere ::

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

:: is impatiently trying to give T'Lira enough time to do the work assigned to her, and has busied herself running system diagnostics ::

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

:: works on checking the sensors and seeing which ones need repairs ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: turns to T'Kirr :: XO: See how engineering is coming along with those crush cans. I'm anxious to get back into space at this point.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

(And that was my line)

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: in her usual off-center seat, poring over the latest incoming duty reports and various other things that had been put on hold while saving the outpost ::

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: definitely just said all of that instead of Harper ::

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

:: looks at Harper ::  NAV:  Did you say something?

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: having just said nothing :: CSO: Hm? Nothing here, Lieutenant.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: glances up at Blackthorne and automatically goes to her comm :: *CEO* Bridge to Engineering, how are the crush cans coming along?

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: is quite tired of all the different shades of blue he sees out the viewer ::

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

:: finds that two of the sensors that need repairs will need EVA repairs. :: *CSO* T'Lira to Wright. Two of the sensors will need EVA repairs, sir.

<CEO_Lt_Quinn>

:: Suspects the hours he and all his department have put into this are finally starting to get to him after all.  He slaps his comm badge with unnecessary force in response to the hail, and only a momentary surprise at that inspires him to wait a few seconds before he actually replies. :: +XO+ Uh, yeah bridge.  Engineering here.  It's going.  I gave some of

<CEO_Lt_Quinn>

my people some rack time.  It was overdue, and we seem to be past the crisis point, so...got another six of these things to re-assemble.  But if you want to surface Atlantis, these things ARE space worthy outside of the planet's atmo.  I can  re-task some of our personnel to that EVA.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: raises an eyebrow and glances to Blackthorne, assuming he's heard the transmission ::

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: nods :: Get the ones that can launch out and recall our shuttles.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*SCI*  Only two?  That's brilliant!  If we can repair the rest remotely, then that will take a great deal of pressure off of Engineering.  Transmit the data to me on the specific ones that need to be repaired via EVA, please?

<CEO_Lt_Quinn>

+XO+ Anyway, stay down here, I should have our bays clear in about an hour.  Split the work, add an hour.  Ma'am.

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

:: Transmits data :: *CSO* I have transmitted the data, sir. It appears that they only need cosmetic repairs.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: quietly to Blackthorne :: CO: Focus on clearing the bays?

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*SCI*  Nice work, Ensign.  Now, for the remote repairs - how about you start at the top of the list and I'll start at the bottom?

<VAdmBlackthorne>

XO: Launch the cans that are ready to make room for our shuttles, even if it is a bit tight. We'll split the work.

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

*CSO* Yes, sir. I will get started immediately.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*SCI*  Excellent. Call if you need anything.  Wright out.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

*CEO* Split the work and fit the shuttles as you can. Thank you, Lieutenant.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*CEO*  Wright to Quinn - I have EVA details for you.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

:: fingers already flying across her console, working to remotely repair and recalibrate the sensors starting at the bottom of the list ::

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

:: starts at the top of the list and begins repairs on non-functioning sensors ::

ACTION: Enough time passes that several League pilots depart the ship, flying their restored crush cans. Our shuttles return home on autopilot, filling the bay to a bit above comfortable capacity, but it's workable.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

CSO: Lt. Wright, please inform Telthis that we will be making orbit in order to facilitate our own repairs, and that their remaining crush cans and people will fly down as they're completed.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: by this point, has moved her attention forward and looks towards Science ::

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

CO:  Aye, sir.  :: Opens channel and hails Telthis ::  *Telthis* USS Atlantis to mining station Telthis.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

Telthis>

*Wright* Go ahead, Atlantis.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*Telthis*  We will be ascending to orbit in order to make repairs to our vessel.  Your ships and pilots remaining aboard Atlantis will be cleared to fly back down to you as the reassembly of the crush cans is completed.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

Telthis>

*Atlantis* Understood, Atlantis. I wish we could offer assistance in your repairs but we are quite busy with our own, for the moment. Best of luck up there.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*Telthis*  And best of luck to you.  Atlantis out.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

CSO: Are all of our shuttles aboard?

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

CO:  Aye, Sir.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: turns to T'Kirr ::: Assume the tactical station, raise the shields, and configure their geometry for high speed atmospheric flight.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

NAV: Kate, calculate an ascent profile and plot a course.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: after many hours involved in the rescue effort, begins to feel the strain of constant concentration, but pushes herself through what's hopefully the last of it and immediately nods and moves dutifully to Tactical ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

CO: Aye sir. :: analyzes atmospheric conditions and has the computer determine the optimal ascent ::

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: taps, taps :: Shields up and configured. Ready to move.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*SCI*  T'Lira, we're about to begin our ascent into orbit.  Just a heads-up.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: nods :: NAV: Begin the ascent.

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

*CSO* Understood, sir.

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

Aye aye! :: Engages the impulse engines and heads up at a steep angle at first, then arcs over to gain the necessary lateral speed ::

ACTION>

Atlantis arcs through the azure atmosphere in an awesome ascent, the shields aiding the aerodynamics.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: breathes in deeply and slowly, eyes on the change of scenery ::

ACTION>

The planet is now mostly below us as we're very much in space, but still gaining the lateral speed necessary to stay in space today.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

:: smiles, glad to be back in the black ::

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

:: looks up from her console, watching the main viewer with a measure of satisfaction ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

CO: Orbit achieved.

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

CO: Orbital parameters 20.2km by 31.4km at an inclination of 14 degrees.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: still at Tactical :: CO: Hull pressure back to normal readings.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

NAV: That will do. It's good when your spaceship is in space, after all.

<VAdmBlackthorne>

XO: Lower the shields.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: does so ::

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

*SCI*  T'Lira, we're in stable orbit.  Resume at will.

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

*CSO* Aye sir.

<CSO_Lt_Wright>

:: continues working her way laboriously up the list ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: looks up at the viewer, satisfied with their orbit, and smiles, remembering how deep she got to go down into that thing ::

<SCI_Ens_TLira>

:: Resumes work on sensor repairs and finds that this is something of a calm moment considering the fury that accompanied refitting the crush cans and bringing Telthis out of its lower atmosphere orbit ::

<VAdmBlackthorne>

XO: Inform engineering that they may begin EVAs when ready. NAV: Ensure that our orientation remains constant while EVA operations are underway.

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: contacts CEO as ordered ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: orients Atlantis's saucer to point normal to their orbital plane and sets the computer to keep it that way ::

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: This makes the ship appear to be pointing straight up compared to the direction of flight, but it is a constant direction, unlike forward, which curves around the planet :: :science:

<XO_Cdr_TKirr>

:: notes airlock activity :: CO: The EVA repair process has begun.

<NAV_Cdr_Harper>

:: monitors the autopilot, seeing that it is indeed keeping the ship pointing normal to its orbit ::
